Unpublished recordings of Janusz Koman from 1980.

The instrumental fruits of two recording sessions at Polish Radio are warm, moody and full of positive emotions music from the borderline of jazz, rock and pop of the time. Soft and colorful.

At the turn of the 1970s and 1980s, Koman Band slowly changed from a permanent band into a banner under which the leader realized his artistic plans.
Music also changed, taking on beautiful, often surprising shades at the beginning of the new decade.

"Twenty Past Six" is a documentation of Koman Band recording sessions from 1980. There is everything that defined the work of Janusz Koman in this period: funky rhythms, lyrical melodies, characteristic harmonic turns. There are even bold trips into the world of impressionistic jazz-rock. Koman's productions of that time were willingly recorded by Polish Radio and (unfortunately) widely ignored by the phonographic market. It's good that they survived - after years they still sound fresh and listen to them perfectly.

Not just twenty past six.
The material contained on the album "Twenty Past Six" was prepared on the basis of original tapes from the archives of the Polish Radio in Poznań and Warsaw, remastered by Andrzej Poniatowski.

This is the fourth part of the series of albums documenting the achievements of Koman Band from the 70s and 80s of the last century, after the well-received "Continuation", "Solar Suite" and "Afternoon".

The last months before martial law are associated with a period of increasing nervousness, anxiety and fear of an uncertain tomorrow. In the works of Janusz Koman, this time sounds like a perfect antidote to the worries of everyday life. It shines with the rays of the sun, emanates warmth and tranquility. A previously unpublished session with Andrzej Olejniczak and Wiesław Wilczkiewicz for the first time on the album!

Recorded in 1981, the material still sounds fresh and soothes all worries with its sound. Janusz Koman combined here pop hits with jazz lightness, which always came out perfectly for him. The songs flow slowly, are full of extremely melodic themes and balanced solo performances...

The material contained on the album "Afternoon" was prepared on the basis of original tapes from the archives of Radio Poznań and remastered in Sweden by Andrzej Poniatowski.

This is the third part of the series of records documenting the achievements of Koman Band from the 70s and 80s of the last century, after the well-received "Continuation" and "Solar Suite".

In 1979, Janusz Koman composed music for the ballet. Music that few heard afterwards, and certainly no one danced to. Till today. The Solar Suite is one of Janusz Koman's most surprising and unrealized projects from the 1970s.

Although in the history of this decade he went down primarily as a composer, arranger and leader of the Koman Band, which worked, among others, in With Krystyna Pronko, Zdzislawa Sosnicka and Stan Borys, his interests reached much further. Koman wrote instrumental music for a whole decade, looking for inspiration in the world of jazz and rock.

He was also interested in larger musical forms. Produced with the Grand Theater in Łódź in mind, "Suita Słoneczna" is one of them - a long, multi-threaded story recorded by the Koman Band with the accompaniment of the Polish Radio and Television Orchestra in Lodz conducted by Henryk Debich and the acoustic guitar duo Completorium.

There is room for jazz-rock solo performances, cinematic momentum, and even absolute free! All wrapped up in forty minutes, with the main theme recurring like an echo.

Solar Suite was reconstructed from original radio tapes from the archives of Polish Radio and remastered by Andrzej Poniatowski.

Recordings from 1974-1975.

A funk machine that went down in the history of Polish music as the group responsible for the phenomenal sound of Krystyna Pronko's first two albums. However, Koman Band had much more to offer.
And although nothing came of the production of the band's original album in the mid-1970s, it's high time to change this state of affairs.

The project led by Janusz Koman since 1973 was a unique phenomenon on the Polish market. The extensive line-up, dominated by the excellent-sounding trumpet section, worked well both in the swinging songs "House of a bad girl", "In the land of silence", as well as in longer forms exploring the soloistic possibilities of the musicians "Darkness golden, dark silver", "Continuation". Koman Band in its first incarnation was a real funk beast with a unique sound, which was also not afraid of bold journeys into the world of fusion.

"Continuation" opens a series of records documenting the achievements of Janusz Koman and Koman Band. All material has been remastered from original tapes from the archives of Polish Radio. Also a vinyl version.
