| At the age of about 13-14 he began his studies in the percussion class led by Professor Skowera at the music school in Lodz, and in the trumpet class with Professor Szejwałło. | ||

He graduated from the Secondary School of Music in Warsaw in the piano class. Graduated from the Faculty of Communications at the Warsaw University of Technology. He continued learning to play the piano after the war, in parallel with his studies at the Polytechnic. He made his debut in 1949 as a pianist and accordionist in the jazz band Marabut, operating under the patronage of the Jazz Club YMCA in Warsaw. Later, he led the band accompanying soloists on stage and in radio and record recordings. He made his debut as a composer in 1959. He wrote music for over one hundred and fifty songs, including for Anna German, Halina Kunicka, Bohdan Łazuka, Czesław Niemen, Jerzy Połomski, Sława Przybylska, Irena Santor, Piotr Szczepanik, Teresa Tutinas, Violetta Villas and Zbigniew Wodecki. |

He is the winner of the 1st prize at the
National Festival of Polish Song Opole '68
for Let's Try Again and the 2nd prize in the
Child-War-Peace competition. In 1963, the song Today, Tomorrow, Always was recognized in the Polish Radio plebiscite as the hit of the year and the hit of the 20th anniversary. Many awards for interpretation of his songs were won by foreign performers at festivals in Sopot: - Patsy Ann Noble from Great Britain: 4th prize for The Best Day in 1965, - Jean Turner from the USA: 5th prize for Rain, Blizzard in 1965, - Scafell Pike band from Sweden: 1st prize for Today, Tomorrow, Always in 1974, - Corina Chiriac from Romania: Amber Nightingale for Never Again in 1975. He died on October 5, 2000 in Warsaw. |
